The New England Recruiting Report is stealing a page from ESPN’s book by releasing a “Terrific 25” list of the best college prospects in the sophomore class, and while the class of 2012 gets well deserved credit for being one of the best ever in this region you can’t get much better than the first three names in 2013. Nerlens Noel and Kuran Iverson are top five players in the country and Noah Vonleh has a similarly unlimited ceiling. Noel…

The more things change the more they stay the same. Worcester Academy has as much tradition as any prep school program in New England and the 2010-2011 season will mark a major change as they will no longer be playing in the NEPSAC’s top league. While the traditional class A schools are now in the AAA league, Worcester is playing in AA this year along with many of the previous powerhouses from class B and C. And although the move…

BABC’s U-16 team could not be stopped all day long. While opposing teams were missing many of their key players, BABC dominated without Jaylen Brantley, Shaquille Jones, and Egi Gjikondi. With scores such as 100-28, 97-23, 83-45, and 72-62, BABC’s dominance was primarily a team effort. If there were any players who particularly stood out it would have to be Georges Niang and Jake Layman. Niang dominated the low post and put his soft touch on display. What was really…

The Massachusetts class of 2013 is by far the deepest in New England. Not only did we rank 15 players in the state but we found it difficult to cut the list there as the state has 20+ prospects who would be ranked in any other state in the region. A consequence of youth and depth is a class that was tremendously hard to rank. Still so early in their careers, trying to balance current ability with future potential is…

Yale University had already put together a terrific recruiting class for 2011…but it just got a lot better. Brandon Sherrod, who led Stratford High School to a pair of state championships and took Gatorade Player of the Year honors in the state of Connecticut last year as a senior, committed to the Bulldogs on Tuesday night. Sherrod, who is currently doing a post-graduate year at Choate Rosemary Hall, had numerous scholarship offers, including two from the Atlantic 10, and was…

The Lee Academy post-graduate basketball team is under new leadership and Andrew Papaefthemiou has put together one of the most talented rosters the school has seen. It all begins with Anthony Joseph Perez Cortesia, an incredibly skilled six-foot-nine Venezualian import who was recently profiled by ESPN and promises to be one of the best kept secrets in the national class of 2012. Perez Cortesia is just the beginning of what is a very talented young international nucleus at Lee. Jean…

The Connecticut class of 2013 has added some notable talent this year but Kuran Iverson is still relatively unchallenged as the state’s top player in the sophomore class. Iverson, who is ranked second overall in the class of 2013 by ESPN, is a legitimate six-foot-eight guard who can do just about anything he wants on the court from a skill standpoint and is also capable of playing any of the five positions on the floor. Hotchkiss’ new big man Mike…

Yale University landed a big commitment on Monday morning when Northfield Mount Hermon post-graduate Armani Cotton committed to the Bulldogs. Cotton is a New York native who ran with the Westchester Hawks on this summer’s AAU circuit and while he was able to intrigue coaches from a variety of different levels, he had no division I scholarship offers in hand when he arrived at NMH last month. “All we did was provide him the opportunity to play his natural position,”…
